Scott Sittig, MHI, RHIA is a 2012 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. He is currently the Department Head of Allied Health at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is enrolled in the Health Informatics PhD program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. His research focuses on the improvement of diabetic patient self-efficacy through the use of health technology. He was awarded the Paul C. Boyle Award for Outstanding Graduate Student Research in 2013 for his research on improving diabetic patient outcomes through a diabetic patient access portal. Mr. Sittig also serves as the Public Policy Liaison for the Student Working Group of AMIA and has traveled to Washington D.C. on several occasions to advocate for health informatics.
Upon completion of his PhD Mr. Sittig intends to stay in academia and to continue his research. He is dedicated to advancing the field of health information management and health informatics in the state of Louisiana and nationally.
