Dietetic Internship. Click here to go the DI page under Human Ecology Programs of Study.

Options

The three MS degree programs each have a thesis and a non-thesis option. The thesis option requires at least 30 semester hours of graduate course work including 6 semester hours credit for the thesis. The non-thesis option requires at least 36 semester hours of graduate course work.

Research Requirements

All students in the Family and Consumer Sciences program and in the Nutrition and Dietetics program complete a research project, either a thesis or a multi-quarter project. In the Biology program, acceptance into the thesis option will be based on the student's academic record and professional goals and the availability of resources. Information on research in the College can be found by pressing the Research link on the navigation bar on the college home page.

Students

Approximately 100 students are enrolled in graduate programs in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences each quarter. Approximately half are full time graduate students and the others are employed and working on the masters degree part time. Family and Consumer Sciences courses and Nutrition and Dietetics courses are scheduled evenings and week-ends to meet the needs of employed students. A large proportion are non-traditional and approximately 5 to 10% are international students.

Financial Aid

A limited number of university assistantships are available. In addition, grants from external funding sources may support graduate students. Students holding assistantships have out-of-state fees waived. Graduate students may also be employed as student workers. For additional information, contact the individual school directors: Dr. Janet Pope, Director, School of Human Ecology, pope@hec.latech.edu, and Dr. David Mills, Director, School of Biological Sciences, dkmills@cans.latech.edu.

Graduate School
