Minor in Human Nutrition:

A minimum of 21 hours with at least 9 hours at the 300 level or above to be selected from: Food and Nutrition 103, 203, 220, 232, 253, 305, 402, 403, and 404.

Curriculum Highlights

Steps To Becoming An RD

1. Complete the B.S. degree at a university that is approved by the Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association (Our program is approved!!)

2. Complete an accredited dietetic internship (Tech also offers this program - we have 20 slots!!)

3. Pass a national examination

Dietetic Internship

Features:

  • 4-quarter (11 month) program
  • Start date is in July; completion date is in May.
  • Program includes 15 credit hours towards the M.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Interns are assigned to one of 3 geographic regions of the state: Ruston/Monroe, Alexandria, or Shreveport
  • All students rotate through a minimum of three facilities
  • All students get experiences in clinical and community dietetics and foodservice management
  • Eligible to take RD exam after successful completion of the DI
