Nightingale 2017-min

 Nightingale Award

Louisiana Tech's Division of Nursing was selected for the second consecutive year as Louisiana's Nursing School of the Year – Undergraduate Program for 2017. The award was presented during the 16th Annual Nightingale Gala in Baton Rouge. Tech's program was selected by a team of nursing leaders from nine states outside of Louisiana. It is awarded based on the program's commitment to selecting, retaining, and educating future nurses, innovation in nursing education, NCLEX first time pass rates for the prior two years, and for faculty and student involvement in their professional organizations. In addition to this award, nursing professor Nancy Darland received the award for Outstanding Community Achievement by a Registered Nurse and LA Tech nursing alum, Deborah Spann, received the award for Registered Nurse of the Year

Louisiana Tech University's Division of Nursing was named the 2016 Nursing School of the Year - Undergraduate Degree Program by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation during their annual Nightingale Awards Gala.  This annual statewide event recognizes quality, service, commitment and excellence for registered nurses, nursing programs, and healthcare agencies across the state of Louisiana. The Louisiana Nurses Foundation is the research, education and charitable subsidiary of the Louisiana State Nurses Association. In addition to Louisiana Tech's Nursing School of the Year honor, nursing professor Nancy Darland was nominated for Outstanding Community Achievement by a Registered Nurse.

Louisiana Tech University nursing students celebrate 100% NCLEX-RN licensure first-time pass rate for 2015. The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) is a nationwide examination that tests the knowledge and skills of a nursing program graduate in order to receive his or her nursing license.  It is designed to ensure safe and effective practices for entry-level registered nurses.  “The 100% first-time pass rate for 2015 Winter and Spring Quarter Louisiana Tech University nursing program graduates demonstrates the preparation of our students and the overall quality of our program," said Gary Kennedy, Dean of the College of Applied and Natural Sciences.  "We are striving to meet the workforce demand for registered nurses, now, and in the future. As the needs of the nursing profession evolve, we are committed to further developing our program to meet those needs.  The 100% first-time pass rate is a clear indication of the capability of our faculty to successfully prepare students as high demand nursing professionals."
