Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies Field Study Tours

 Students receive industry experience through participation in field study experiences exploring the various areas in the manufacturing and merchandising industry. 


Dallas Study Tour 

As sophomores, students participate in a three-day study tour in fashion centers such as Dallas or Atlanta. The study tour consists of industry appointments and attending the Fashion Group International Dallas Career Day. It is conducted annually in the Spring Quarter. 


Appointments change annually, but have included:

  • FIG (Fashion Industry Gallery)
  • Abbi Ferrin Design
  • JC Penney Corporate Offices
  • Zales Corporate Offices
  • Dallas Stars Marketing
  • Dallas Mavricks Marketing
  • Bass Pro Shop Visual Merchandising
  • Dillard's Distribution
  • Mary Kay Corporate Offices
  • Mary Kay Manufacturing

  • Gaylord Texan Event Planning

New York Study Tour

  • Students may also participate in a seven-day New York study tour as juniors or seniors. The study tour consists of industry appointments and sight-seeing. It is conducted every other year (even years) in the Spring Quarter.

  • FAO Swartz Product Development and Marketing
  • Macy's Visual Merchandising
  • Paley Center for Media (effects of advertising)
