Louisiana Tech School of Biological Sciences Professor Dr. David Mills has been recognized as a top reviewer (top 1 percent internationally in the area of material science) in Publons’ annual global Peer Review Awards for the 2017-18 award year.
Launched in 2012 and joined by a quarter-million researchers worldwide, Publons is a website that allows academics to “track, verify, and showcase their peer review and editorial contributions for academic journals.” Its goal is to “speed up science by harnessing the power of peer review” by making it a measurable research output so scholars can use their review and editorial record as evidence of their standing and influence in their field.
Mills’ Review Rewards certificate, awarded in honor of “the sentinels of science and research,” reads in part as follows: “Publons peer review awards honor the elite contributions to scholarly peer review and editorial pursuits internationally. Recipients have demonstrated an outstanding expert commitment to protecting the integrity and accuracy of published research in their field.”
Mill’s BioMorph Laboratory is used for designing novel and dynamic nanofilms for many complex and life-improving applications, and his NERO Laboratory supports a K-16+ outreach program that provides solid educational content and a strong technical foundation in both the molecular sciences and bionanotechnology.
