The largest group of students in a single year in Louisiana Tech’s history — 32 — have been accepted from the School of Biological Sciences into health professional programs.

• Sixteen students will go to medical schools at LSUHSC-Shreveport, LSUHSC-New Orleans, University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston, and McGovern Medical School-Houston.
• One student was accepted into the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Georgia.
• Five graduates will be attending LSUHSC-New Orleans School of Dentistry.
• Eleven graduates will enter Allied Health Professional programs, including two students entering ULM’s School of Pharmacy, four entering Physician Assistants’ programs, three beginning Physical Therapy programs, and one entering an Occupational Therapy program.

Some students are waitlisted, so the number accepted may increase as well.

Dr. William Wolf, Associate Professor and Chair of the Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Advisory committee, says that “the successful applications to professional schools by these students was no accident; they approached this challenge with focus and determination. But I am also impressed with the efforts they make to help their fellow students. You see this mutual support in classes, in research labs, in student organizations like Alpha Epsilon Delta,TriBeta, and MAPS, and in effective study groups which students themselves create and maintain.”
