Caitlyn Prine, a Monroe, Georgia, native, knew she wanted to work in the healthcare field from a young age. She chose the Master of Health Informatics program because she saw the potential for making a real impact in healthcare through the use of data.

“I will be able to use data to help improve patient outcomes and make the healthcare system more efficient,” Prine said. “I am excited to use my skills to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Prine’s parents were both Louisiana Tech graduates, so it was logical for her to consider Tech.

“It ended up being one of the best decisions of my life, and I will cherish my time spent in the small town of Ruston,” Prine said. “I love the family atmosphere here at Tech, and I am proud to have been a part of such a great community. Some of my fondest memories at Louisiana Tech are early mornings at Java City before class, getting a pep talk from Mrs. Mary (every Tech student’s mom away from home), and enjoying my favorite latte.”

Prine earned two undergraduate degrees and a master’s degree while at Tech.

“As I look back on my time at Tech, I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have had. I have made lifelong friends, and memories that will last a lifetime, and I have been given the tools that I need to be successful in my career,” she said.

Currently, Prine works as a compensation analyst for Thrive Pet Healthcare \based in Austin, Texas.

“Although my current job is not in the ‘human’ healthcare field, it is a data-driven position that allows me to utilize the skills that I learned while obtaining my master’s,” Prine said. “I am using my skills to help make a difference in the lives of animals. I am passionate about animal welfare, and I hope to use my skills to help make the veterinary industry more efficient and effective.”

Prine is confident she will make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve. Her hope is to one day use her skills to help make the healthcare system more efficient and effective for all.

“My career has taken off and I will say, it is all thanks to the exceptional faculty, staff, and programs at Louisiana Tech University and the Health Information and Informatics department that I am where I am today,” Prine said.
