Bernice native Cecilia Alvarez is a senior Nutrition and Dietetics major who has experienced catering events, food drives, food research projects, farmer markets, connections to health professionals, and much more while at Tech.
“All of these opportunities have allowed me to grow and evolve into the person I am today,” Alvarez said. “My professional goals have changed drastically since my freshman year here, but the one thing l that has remained the same is my goal to one day become a Registered Dietitian.”
Once Alvarez earns her license, she plans to gain experience in a WIC clinic in order to help provide conceiving women in the community with nutrition education. Her goal is to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible in prenatal nutrition in order to provide mothers-to-be with the necessary tools to raise a healthy family.
“With time and dedication, I would also like to broaden my career by pursuing a path as a Diabetes Educator for adults,” Alvarez said, “specifically, in the Hispanic community, where the risk of diabetes is prevalent.”
