Bossier City native Hunter Knowles is a senior in Agricultural Business with a concentration in Plant Science. His career goals weren’t always clear, but a job opening helped him find his passion.
“After taking some time away from school, I happened upon a position in course maintenance at Southern Trace Country Club where, three and a half years later, I’ve found a genuine passion for the industry,” Knowles said. “I decided to pursue this passion, enrolling in Tech in 2019 with a great deal of guidance from my advisor, Dr. Paul Jackson. The course material of the business classes and the hands-on experiences of the sciences and labs have taught me so much and I’ve already started applying my new skills and knowledge as I’ve been promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Southern Trace.”
Knowles is set to graduate in May 2022, and he has his eyes on a promotion.
“Because of the resources I’ve gained through this program, I am striving for a superintendent position or the opportunity to branch out and start my own landscaping company,” Knowles said. “I am grateful not only for the knowledge and experiences that I have gained from my time at Louisiana Tech, but also for the continued guidance and encouragement that has gotten me where I am.”
