Forestry major Nathan Price always knew he wanted to attend Louisiana Tech University.
“Growing up in central Louisiana in Grant Parish, it was common to see the forestry industry in my everyday life,” Price said. “From recreation in Kisatchie National Forest, to log trucks passing my house constantly, seeing this left an impression of an industry that isn’t really focused on but incorporates so many aspects of life. Coming to college as a first-generation student was very daunting and confusing, but after my first quarter at Tech, I was hooked.”
Price said the Forestry program at Tech is like no other program because of its engaging and hands-on field labs that allow students to put into practice what was covered in prior lectures.
“A lot of the things that we cover in Forestry cannot be covered in a classroom or in a book,” Price said, “This program covers the science and art of Forestry to help you develop those skills.”
Price said Louisiana Tech will always hold a special place in his heart and will always be his home.
“This University has given me the tools necessary to be successful in my professional career,” Price said. “It is my dream that we can recognize the importance Forestry has in our lives and be able to appreciate and sustain the forest and its natural resources.”
