A native of Tallulah, Shannon earned her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in 1976.  She went on to study at Indiana State University where she received her master’s degree in Social Gerontology in 1988.  While residing in Little Rock, Shannon spent time with Arkansas Children’s Hospital as well as the Central Arkansas Area Agency on Ageing.  Beginning in 1997 Shannon and her husband, Chuck (86), had the opportunity to live and work overseas.  The Boyers returned to North Louisiana in 2017 and quickly renewed their relationship with their alma mater.  They currently reside in Monroe, contrary to popular belief, as they are frequently seen on the Tech campus.
