Simulation & Service Learning

A key thread throughout the nursing curriculum is the integration of collaborative service learning opportunities. Through these experiences, nursing students learn to appreciate and serve others in the community as they work in multi-perspective teams. Intentionally combining service, learning, and personal reflection expands the traditional classroom and encourages innovation, empathy and connections with the community.

As Louisiana Tech University prepares students to enter the technology rich and rapidly changing world of healthcare, simulation is a vital component in the nursing curriculum. Our campus simulation labs include high and medium fidelity manikins designed to prepare students for a wide range of patients including those in the specialty areas of labor and delivery, neonatal, and pediatric care. Louisiana Tech University partners with the Willis Knighton Health System to provide clinical experiences in their Virtual Hospital. Our faculty and students join with other disciplines to offer excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
